Menopause Matters: A Manifesto for Change in South Wales

Introduction

 A 2019 survey conducted by the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD) found that three in five menopausal women—usually aged between 45 and 55—were negatively affected at work. BUPA found that almost 900,000 women in the UK had left their jobs because of menopausal symptoms. If we take that number and estimate that each of these women was paying on average £5,000 in tax, that’s a loss of tax revenue to the Government of £4,500,000,000.

Menopause is a significant life transition that affects millions of women, yet support services remain fragmented, awareness is limited, and societal attitudes lag. This manifesto sets out a vision for real change in South Wales—one that connects medical and holistic services, fosters education, influences corporate policy
